Liz's Story: A Colleague on her Experiences as an Asian Woman

Our long-time colleague Liz Young shares stories about her own experience as an Asian-American woman in this 10-minute video.

Asian Americans across the country are speaking out against the violence and hatred that has been directed at them this year, and historically. They are calling not only for an end to this violence, but for all of us to increase our awareness of Asian American experience, culture, and history.

Many are also calling attention to the targeting of Asian women in attacks such as the one in Atlanta in March. They point to the history of misogyny that has been directed especially at Asian American women, and at the tangled intersection of racial hatred and hypersexualization underlying some of the attacks.

One way to better understand what is happening and what we can do about it is to hear and elevate the stories of Asian Americans, and women in particular.

In this 10-minute video, our long-time colleague Liz Young shares stories about her own experience as an Asian American woman.
